Georgia Adams Joined Adelaide Strikers Women for BBL 2023-24
The Adelaide Strikers have filled their third WBBL overseas list slot, signing English all-rounder Georgia Adams post-draft through Direct Nomination System.
Adams will reunite with her Southern Brave Assistant Coach Luke Williams at the Strikers, in what will be her first time in the WBBL.
Georgia Adams was the leading wicket taker in the women Hundred 2023-24. Georgia Adams team Southern Brave Women won the women Hundred 2023-24.
It was at the Southern Brave where Adams struck up a relationship with Strikers Head Coach Williams, which helped her secure her shot in the Big Bash.
Lude Williams said it was a pleasure working with Adams at the Southern Brave during the last couple of seasons.
“Georgia Adams is someone that consistently performs in domestic cricket in the UK and is able to perform in a number of different roles with bat, ball and in the field,” Williams said.
“Her adaptability and ability to perform under pressure is something that stood out and fitted what we we’re looking for.
“Georgia is a great team person who has some experience in leadership positions as well, so I have no doubt that Georgia will fit in fantastically with the Strikers group and I’m really looking forward to her contribution.”
Now, Adams simply can’t wait for October to be involved in her first Big Bash.
“It can’t come soon enough, I’m over the moon to have the opportunity, it’s been a tournament that I’ve followed for many years and one I’ve always wanted to play in,” Adams said.
“It’s up there with being the best franchise tournament around in the women’s game, so I’m ecstatic to have the opportunity and I can’t wait to get out there.”
Adams is the third overseas signing for the Strikers in WBBL|09, after Laura Wolvaardt and Dani Gibson were drafted in the inaugural WBBL

Adelaide Strikers Women did a tremendous job by retaining Laura Wolvaardt as overseas player. She was the backbone of Adelide Strikers Women in the WBBL08. Also picked Dani Gibson english all rounder as 2nd overseas player. Adelide Strikers women did not retain Dottin this time who made them maiden champions of WBBL trophy last season.
Batting is not aggresive one who can score above 150-170 runs. Was also looked medicore team last season. But in playoffs Adelide Strikers women came with complete planning and strategy and beat hot favourites Syedney Sixers Women in the final. Their bowling pair of Dacrie Brown and Megan Schutt did a great damage and completely destroyed their top and middle order within power play. Megan Schutt is their X factor bowler.
Team is 90% same as of last year. Adelide Strikers also resigned Zimbabwe new leg spin sensation Anesu Mushangwe. That will be surprise package from Adelide Strikers Women in WBBL 2023-24. Bridge Patterson also resigned again with Adelide Strikers Women. Adelaide Strikers Women will try best to retain their champions tag.
Team again lack in batting depth and depends on Wolvaardt and McGrath to perform in every match with big scores that is not possible. They will suffer and unable to score big runs that can lead to the lose. Also their batting will not be able to chase score above 150 also.
Their main weapon is their lethal bowling attack. Seeing this team in the playoffs.
