The right-arm pacer from Pakistan bowled the fastest delivery in international cricket during the Cricket World Cup 2003. Shoaib Akhtar, who always cherished bowling fast, clocked 161.3 kph against England at Capetown (South Africa). This delivery made him the first player in cricket history to break the 100 Mile barrier on the speed gun. His aggressive bowling and unique action always grabbed the limelight amidst all the cricket action.
The 161.3 kph (100.2 mph) delivery that Akhtar lobbed Nick Knight, who was defending the ball on the leg side, was the first-ever in cricket history to break the 100-mph threshold. In 224 matches, Shoaib Akhtar took 444 wickets in international cricket.
Shoaib Akhtar took 178 Test wickets and 247 ODI wickets during his playing days for Pakistan (1997 – 2011). Lockie Ferguson clocked the fastest ball of IPL-15 when he bowled at 157.3 kph in the final against Rajasthan Royals in Ahmedabad in IPL 2022.
Ferguson broke the speed barrier in the final ball of the fifth over. Ferguson has a reputation for bowling fast and has gone past the 150 kph mark on a number of occasions this IPL.
