“Every cricketer typically starts with tape-ball cricket and it was the same with me. There were not many facilities, which is why I shifted to Peshawar. I played cricket there and managed to represent Pakistan on the U-19 level. After that, Islamabad United picked me as an Emerging player and from then onward, things were rather straightforward,” explained Wasim.
Wasim was born into a Pashtun family of the Wazir tribe that resides in North Waziristan, KPK. In his early age he started playing tape ball cricket. Due to the lack of facilities there, he had to move to the provincial capital Peshawar where he joined a cricket club before playing at district level and then at regional level, finally representing the Pakistan U19 team.
