Today the topic of discussion is Pakistan Cricketers salaries for year 2023-2026.

PCB Central Contract 2023-26 Salaries for Pakistan Cricketers

PCB’s Management Committee Chairperson Zaka Ashraf said “This deal signifies our commitment to improving the financial health of our players, acknowledging their hard work and dedication to the game. We firmly believe that a financially secure and motivated team is more likely to excel on the field.”

Total of 25 players will be beneficiary from this central contract.

Pakistan Cricketers Salaries per month for Year 2023-26

The Pakistan Cricket Board has given three-year central contracts as compared to one year previously. This central contract will start from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2026.

Despite the length of the contracts, players performances will be reviewed after every 12-month period. That means pay for performance and not for seniority. Performance matters the most.

The previous central contract cycle expired on 30 June and the new deal will be deemed effective from 1 July, 2023.

Pakistan Cricket Team Monthly Salary

PCB allocated annual budget of approximately PKR 528 million(75 crore) to centrally contracted players. Total of PKR 6.3 million will be given to A category players with addition of 3% revenue share from ICC events. These B categories cricketers will now receive a monthly payment of PKR 4.1 million due to addition of 3% revenue share from ICC events. C category players will get PKR 1.7 million with inclusion of 3% revenue share from ICC events. These D category players will receive 1.1 million PKR monthly from PCB due to addition of 3% revenue share from ICC events.

Pakistan Cricket Players salary increments for year 2023

Players get 50% increment in Tests. 25% in ODIs and 12.5% in T20s.

Pakistan Cricket Players will get a share in PCB Revenue from ICC 

The players will also get a portion of the revenue that PCB makes from the ICC. That share will be 3%.

Pakistan Centrally Contracted players allowed to play only two Overseas T20 Leagues

Pakistan centrally contracted players will be allowed to feature only in two overseas leagues each season, and earn 50% of international match fee for playing domestic cricket.

Pakistan centrally contracted players categories

There are four categories offered by PCB to Pakistan cricketers.

PCB allocated Annual Budget to Centrally Contracted Players 

PCB allocated annual budget of approximately PKR 528 million(75 crore) to centrally contracted players. 220.3 million revenue share also included in this budget. This budget is approved by PCB management committee.

What is the salary of Pakistan cricket players?

It depends on his category. Players are categories from A to D based on their past performances. This is good as this encourage each player to perform well to elevate in upper categories.

Pakistan cricketer salary per month 2023

Pakistan cricketers get salary per month. This new central contract is from 2023-2026 with review on every year. So each player can be demoted or promoted on his one year performance.

A Category Cricketers Salaries in Pakistan

1.Babar Azam, 2. Mohammad Rizwan, 3. Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi get a monthly salary of 6.3 million with match fee.

Their remuneration has seen a remarkable surge of 202%. Category A players will now receive a monthly payment of PKR 4.5 million. Total of PKR 6.3 million will be given to A category players with addition of 3% revenue share from ICC events. These A categories cricketers will receive PKR 70.23 million annually from PCB. These three players will receive collectively 200 million PKR approximately.

B Category Cricketers Salaries in Pakistan 

1.Fakhar Zaman, 2. Haris Rauf, 3.Imam-ul-Haq, 4.Mohammad Nawaz, 5.Naseem Shah, 6.Shadab Khan.

Fakhar Zaman, Harif Rauf, Imam-ul-haq, Mohammad Nawaz, Naseem Shahzad, Shadab Khan will get a monthly salary of PKR 4.1 million per month plus match fee.

These category players will enjoy a substantial pay increase of 144%. Category B players will now receive a monthly payment of PKR 3 million. These B categories cricketers will now receive a monthly salary of PKR 4.1 million due to addition of 3% revenue share from ICC events. Each player will annually receive 49770000 PKR from PCB. These 6 players will total cost PCB PKR 298620000.

C Category Cricketers Salaries in Pakistan

1.Imad Wasim,2.Abdullah Shafique.

Imad Wasim, Abdullah Shafique will get a monthly salary of PKR 1.7 million with match fee.

This category players will get a rise of 135%. 1.5 million will be new monthly salary for C category players. These two players will get PKR 1765000 with inclusion of 3% revenue share from ICC events. These two will receive PKR 21180000.

D Category Cricketers Salaries in Pakistan 

1.Fahim Ashraf, 2.Hasan Ali, 3.Iftikhar Ahmed, 4.Ihsanullah, 5.Mohammad Haris, 6.Mohammad Wasim Jr, 7.Saim Ayub, 8.Salman Ali Agha, 9.Sarfaraz Ahmad, 10.Saud Shakeel, 11.Shahnawaz Dahani, 12.Shan Masood, 13.Usama Mir, 14. Zaman Khan.

These players will receive PKR 1.1 million monthly from PCB due to addition of 3% revenue share from ICC events with match fee. 

Each player will get 13590000 PKR annually. 

These category D players will get a rise of 127%.

Pakistan Domestic Cricketers Monthly Salary 2023-26

Twenty players, selected by the regions according to the predefined criteria, will be assigned categories as outlined; A+ will get PKR 300,000, A PKR 200,000, B PKR 185,000, C PKR 170,000, D PKR 150,000, E PKR 100,000, F will pocket PKR 50,000.

Pakistan Director of Cricket Salary 2023-26

Former Test captain Mohammad Hafeez expressed his delight at being appointed the team director of the Pakistan cricket side and asserted that they would strive for excellence together.

He has been given the responsibility of reshaping the national team after Pakistan’s league stage elimination in the World Cup.

Currently PCB is paying Pakistan Director of cricket Mohamamd Hafeez monthly salary of PKR 5 million per month or $300 per day with other perks and allowances.

Pakistan Chief Selector Salary 2023-26

Currently PCB is paying Chief Selector Wahab Riaz PKR 2.4 million per month with other perks and allowances.

Pakistan Head Coach Monthly Salary 2023-26

Pakistan Head coach Micky Arthur is getting monthly salary of USD 15000.

Match Fee, Bonuses and Allowances are excluded from this Payment to Cricketers

Match Fee, Bonuses and allowances are excluded from this monthly payment. This means that PCB opened the doors of treasures for cricket players in this central contract from 2023-2026.

Total Tax deduction on Pakistan Cricketers Salaries

There will be 10% tax deduction on salaries of all centrally contracted players.

Cricketers Excluded from Central Contract 2023-26

Cricketers like Azhar Ali, Fawad Alam, Nouman Ali, Abid Ali, Yasir Shah, Asif Ali, Haider Ali, Khushdal Shah, Usman Qadir, and Zahid Mehmood have been omitted from the central contract.

PCB Chariman Zaka Ashraf announced some changes in Central Contract 

PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf hint for changes in central contract list and categories upgradation. PCB is getting so much criticism by including Safraz Ahmed in Category D and exclusion of some players from central contract list like test spinner Nouman Ali.

PCB Chairman said that there will be some changes and they will review the central contract list again so that all central contracts will be based on merit and transparency.

Zaka Ashraf said that West Indies team got demotion and out of ODI World Cup 2023 as their players prefer leagues then national team due to high salaries in leagues as compared to what they get from west indies cricket board.

All centrally contracted players will be allowed to play two leagues. One is PSL and one another.

Zaka Ashraf said that Australian, Indian and English cricket boards are giving high salaries to their international cricketers so that they never think of any T20 leagues around the world. He said that Pakistan International players are given high compensation in central contract of 2023-26 by taking in mind this factor.

Zaka Ashraf said that players will get promotion and demotion from the said 4 categories by seeing their one year performances.

Five more Pakistan players added to men’s central contracts list 2023-26

After a thorough review, PCB has decided to name five additional players in the men’s central contracts list bringing the total number of players offered contracts to 30. The three-year contracts is effective from from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2026.

The previous 25-man list of players was finalised by the Najam Sethi-led management committee but the new management committee under its chairman Mr Zaka Ashraf has decided to review the list.

Additional five players Names and Categories in Central Contract 2023-26 

The new inductions include Abrar Ahmed (Category C), Noman Ali (Category C), Tayyab Tahir (Category D), Aamir Jamal (Category D) and Arshad Iqbal (Category D).

Abrar and Noman, placed in Category C, have been regular Pakistan’s Test team members over the past year. Mystery spinner Abrar has picked up 38 wickets in six matches since making his debut against England in Multan while left-arm spinner Noman has taken 17 wickets in four games over the last 12 months.

Aamir (4 T20Is), Arshad (3 T20Is) and Tayyab (3 T20Is) slotted in Category D continue to remain in the plans of the national men’s selection committee.

Sarfraz Ahmed promoted from Category D to Category B in PCB Central Contract 2023-26

Sarfaraz Ahmed, former captain, was previously named in Category “D” but has been elevated to Category B. He is presently Pakistan’s first-choice wicket-keeper batter in the red-ball format.

Below is the updated list of players with categories who have been offered contracts:

Category A: Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi

Shan Masood promoted from Category D to B on getting Test Captaincy

The PCB has opted to elevate Test captain Shan Masood’s central contract category from D to B for year 2023-26. This move adheres to the PCB’s policy, where a centrally contracted player below A or B categories assumes the captaincy, their contract is upgraded to category B for the duration of their captaincy.
Shan Masood who took on the Test captain role on November 15, 2023, for the duration of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle. Shand Masood’ first assignment will be against Australia Test series.
