Pitch Report and Analysis of M. A. Chidambaram Chennai India

The ground is generally dry and hard, which deteriorates with time. The grass on this field will not be green at all.

Pitch favors the spinners. So teams try to add maximum spinners in their squad to get control of the game with turn and spin option.

Among the top 10 wicket-takers at the ground, nine of them are spinners.

The teams won the toss love to bat to build a good total and bowl in 2nd innings as pitch deteriorates with time and became more spin friendly in 2nd innings.

But again if the pitch favors bowling (spin and fast), it can favor the opposite team also. Like with reference to ODI World Cup match played on 08 Oct, 2023 between India and Australia. Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. But after 10 overs, Indian Spinners get control of the game. It was difficult to score against such high quality Indians spin attack and also wickets fall like cards.

On a pitch which is not anywhere close to being easy, India with their spinners have bowled out Australia for 199.

Ravi Shastri Pitch Report on M.A Chidambaram Chennai

It will be a slowish surfrace, might be two paced and just looking at the color, much darker on one side and lighter on the other. This pitch will be little bit on slower side. If you bowl back of a length and don’t give pace then it won’t be easy reads Ravi Shastri.

I play for CKS so I know the conditions here. I was looking to bowl into the stumps and there was turn, you never know which ball is going straight and which one is turning, the odd ball was turning and i was just mixing the pace.

But again it also depends on two teams which are competing in the match. India has world’s best batting and bowling attack as compared to other teams. India has best spin attack also. So match also depends on the team competing for the match in this pitch and stadium.
