Multan Sultans name Hijab Zahid as PSL’s first female General Manager

Multan Sultans have appointed the Pakistan Super League’s first female general manager.

Hijab Zahid, 28, has succeeded Haider Azhar in the role ahead of the 2024 tournament, and will now be responsible for overseeing the franchise’s attempts to win their second title.

Zahid, a project manager by trade, has arrived in the role after being appointed director of Pakistani digital media outlet Grassroots Cricket earlier in 2023.

Multan Sultans appointed New Head Coach for PSL 2024

Abdul Rehman replaces Andy Flower as head coach of Multan Sultans for 2024.

Abdul Rehman, a stalwart of the Pakistani domestic coaching circuit, has been promoted to Multan Sultans’ head coach after serving as the team’s assistant coach for the last five years. He replaces former Zimbabwe wicketkeeper-batter Andy Flower.
Rehman, currently the assistant coach of Pakistan men’s team, had joined Multan in 2018. Under Flower and him, the team reached the final of the last three PSL editions and won the tournament in 2021.

Nathan Lamon appointed as Director of Strategy by Multan Sultans for PSL 2024

Multan Sultans appointed Nathan Lamon as Multan’s director of strategy. Lamon had worked closely with England across all three formats from 2009 for more than a decade. He has also worked exclusively with the white-ball teams since 2016, and had spent time with Multan in 2019 and Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.

Multan Sultans Appoint Mohammad Waseem as Assistant Coach

Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise, Multan Sultans, have appointed former Chief Selector, Mohammad Wasim, as their new assistant coach for the upcoming edition 9th edition of the tournament.

Multan Sultans started Player Development Program (Sultan Elite Squad ) in PSL 2023-24

This initiative lead by Muhammad Waseem (Assistant Coach) will identify and nurture promising players through trials and developmental campus at Multan Sultans Academy Lodhran. The program will select 24 individuals who will receive training from renowned coaches like Ian Pont and Julian Wood. These players will also participate in local tournaments across Pakistan with the ultimate goal of representing Multans Sultans in the PSL. Following the success of Lahore Qalandar’s players Development Program. Fans and experts are eagerly anticipating the impact of “The Sultans Elite Squad”.

Catherine Dalton has been appointed as the fast-bowling coach of the Multan Sultans for PSL 2024

Catherine Dalton has been appointed as the fast-bowling coach of the Multan Sultans in the PSL 2024, becoming the first female coach in PSL history and the first female fast-bowling coach of a top-level men’s cricket team.

The 30-year-old Dalton is an ECB-certified Level 3 Advanced Coach with previous experience working in the national fast-bowling academy in the UK and the Ultimate Pace Foundation in India. She has also visited Pakistan twice before and worked with several fast bowlers, including Mohammad Ilyas, Sameen Gul, and Arshad Iqbal, as well as a number of Under-19 players.

“Having worked in Pakistan with some of the Multan Sultan players on two previous visits, I am really thrilled to be officially joining up with the franchise at the PSL,” Dalton told ESPNcricinfo. “It’s not lost on me the ground-breaking moment for a female fast-bowling coach to be working in a major men’s T20 franchise. I am very humbled by the opportunity and cannot wait to hopefully help make a difference on multiple levels.”

Multan Sultans’ owner Ali Tareen said he was excited to have Dalton on board and that he believed she would be a valuable asset to the team.

“Catherine has been part of our player-development program for almost five years now,” Tareen said. “I have seen how she has improved players firsthand. I always knew she would become a fast-bowling coach at a high level. And I am so glad that her first opportunity came at the Sultans.”

Tareen also said that he was committed to increasing diversity in the coaching ranks at the Multan Sultans and that he hoped to have gender parity for all seasons as long as he is owner.

Dalton’s appointment is a significant step forward for women in cricket and is sure to inspire other women to pursue careers in coaching.

Alex Hartley appointed as Assistant Spin bowling coach of Multan Sultans in PSL 2024

Former England international Alex Hartley is set to be appointed as a specialist spin bowling coach by Pakistan Super League side Multan Sultans. Hartley and former Ireland player Catherine Dalton, who joins the franchise as a fast-bowling coach, are to be the first female coaches in PSL history.

Hartley has a Level 2 coaching qualification. This will be her first top-level job, having previously coached age-group cricket at Lancashire.

Saqlain Mushtaq appointed as Spin bowling coach of Multan Sultans for PSL 2024

Saqlain Mushtaq will be the spin bowling coach of Multan Sultans and also will be the team mentor.

Haider Azhar Joined Karachi Kings for PSL 2024 

Mr. Haider Azhar Joined Karachi Kings as Head of Strategy and Team Director. Haider Azhar previously served Multans Sultans in the same position.

Registrations opened for foreign players for HBL PSL 2024

The registration window for foreign players has been opened for the upcoming season of HBL Pakistan Super League, which is tentatively scheduled from 8 February to 24 March. This will be the ninth edition of the flagship event.
