Who is winner of WBBL 2023-24?
The WBBL 2023-24 winner is again no other than Adelaide Strikers Women for the 2nd time consecutively. What a game! That’s the pinnacle of WBBL. An amazing tournament and an exhilarating final. The Strikers will be pretty pleased with back-to-back tournament wins and all of them are thanking the Adelaide Oval crowd that came in number. More than 12000 spectactors came to wintness the win of Adelide Strikers Women.
Adelide Strikers Women main weapon was again their lethal bowling. They qualified straight to the final. Again in final they defended low score of just 125. Their batting unable to put high scores on the scorecard but their bowling bowled out oppossition teams on low scores.
Adelaide become the third WBBL club to win back-to-back titles, joining the Sydney Sixers (WBBL|02 and |03) and the Heat (WBBL|04 and |05).
Adelaide Strikers manage to successfully defend their title. They won the tournament last year, and they have done it again! Two WBBL titles – that’s quite an impressive achievement. The Strikers dominated in the league stages, won most of their games and booked a place in the finals.
And they have managed to keep their cool even in the night of the final, when it mattered the most. Not many teams can do that. They opted to bat first and got off to a decent start, but Brisbane Heat bowlers pulled things back in the second half and restricted the Strikers to a pretty average total.
In reply, the Brisbane Heat openers got them off to a positive start, however, the Strikers bowlers also managed to do what the Heat bowlers did earlier in the day. They pulled things back significantly after that opening partnership. Amanda-Jade Wellington bowled some economical overs and built the pressure, while McGrath – the Strikers skipper bagged two wickets on successive deliveries.
Schutt bagged a couple of crucial wickets towards the end, while Amanda-Jade Wellington bowled a superb final over and sealed the deal. Kerr tried her best, but unfortunately she was deprived of strike in the final over.
With a low score to chase, Grace Harris started on a positive note as Heat scored 25 off the first three overs. However, the Strikers didn’t lose their composure and quietly went about putting a lid on the scoring rate. The result was the big wicket of Harris, with Georgia Redmayne also falling shortly after to kick the game alive. The runs started to dry up as Strikers’ spinners stifled the batters.
Chasing an under-par total of 126, Brisbane Heat needed 13 off the last over bowled by Amanda-Jade Wellington who held her nerve to see her side over the line. The well-set Amelia Kerr got off-strike on the second ball of the over and then had to watch helplessly as she never got back the strike again.

I am going to use my quote from the last year – “that was bloody special.” We had the fight and determination. We were sitting in the changerooms, we said we’re not done, we want to go back-to-back. We know our roles, it’s a lot of fun playing with this team. No ego. That was crazy from the crowd. Adelaide crowd is the best. We love your support.

Credit to the crowd for coming out tonight. Congratulations to the Strikers. They had the right to win the final. Super proud of the team, we’ll be back stronger next year. Few of our supporters made it to Perth as well. The CEO supported us, without their support our job was difficult. Super proud of the girls and our sponsors. Thanks to the Adelaide crowd for coming out and supporting, these games are amazing.
